Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that we are already half way through this half term and Summer Term 1. We have most certainly had a jam-packed start to this half term and young people have been truly amazing. We do understand that this half term has already seen lots of changes in routine for young people including trips, a residential, bank holidays and further strike days, as always though, your support and understanding has been phenomenal. Young people continue to amaze us each and everyday with their resilience and wonderful attitude to embracing change and different routines.

Parent overviews will been sent to families later today, these detail curriculum coverage for pupils and of course, should you have any further questions, please contact your child’s class teacher or form tutor in the first instance. Thank you so much to families for completing their consent or indeed withdrawal from our PSHE and RSHE curriculum. We are still awaiting a couple of confirmations from families and would ask that if your feedback is outstanding that you contact the school office as a matter of urgency to ensure pupils are able to access the learning on their timetables and curriculum plan.

Bader’s First Residential!

It was a real honour and privilege to lead Bader’s first EVER residential trip last week. 33 young people across Year 7 – Year 10 attended and were an absolute pleasure and credit to families and the Bader community! Staff were an amazing support too and the stay away ran smoothly, although I think we had some very tired young people from all the activities.

It was amazing to see pupils experience lots of activities outside of their comfort zone and push themselves to achieve and embrace different activities! They were amazing and took part in Bushcraft, High Ropes, Assault Courses and Stream Walks to name a few! There are some pictures below, we are so very proud of their achievements and their positive ‘can-do’ attitude and approach for what was the first time away from home for many, especially with school! We can’t wait to book again for next year…

Trust Olympics - Secondary

On Tuesday 25^th April a number of young people from our secondary cohort took part in the Nexus MAT trust wide Olympics, held at the English Institute of Sports in Sheffield. They represented Bader beautifully! Our Secondary cohort took part in a carousel of activities which included: seated volleyball, Boccia and Kurling, Parachute games, Target games and Football. They then had the opportunity to participate in track races following lunch.

We were so very proud of how they conducted themselves, joined in and were simply amazing. They were encouraging to others and cheered each and every school on as well as their peers from Bader. The sense of community was exceptional and there were over 200 young people from schools across the trust which participated, all at different levels of ability but part of a huge team where every young person was able to participate. I know we are very proud of our representatives and I am sure you will join us in congratulating the Bader team in their achievements! We even had a track race winner so well done to all involved. We are looking forward to the Primary Olympics in July.

The King’s Coronation Tea Party

Thank you so much to families who joined us earlier today to celebrate The King’s Coronation through a tea party within school. We were delighted to welcome so many special people and as a community embrace the Coronation of King Charles III. Events which link to events beyond school and recognised throughout the wider community are so very important for young people. Thank you to families for their donations and supporting the school to enable young people to recognise the significance of the upcoming bank holiday and what this means to us as a country and British Values. We do hope those who attended enjoyed it as much as we did and welcomed the opportunity to celebrate as our Bader Community.

SATs and GCSE Examinations – Very Best of Luck!

It is an absolute pleasure to wish our wonderful Year 6’s the very best of luck next week as they sit their SATs across the week. They have worked so very hard and we are delighted to see how much they have achieved. We wish them the very best of luck next week and we know that they will do their absolute best which is all we could ever wish for. I am sure you will join us in wishing them all the very best.

Our Year 11’s are working very hard and preparing for their GCSE examinations in English Literature and Mathematics. They have been absolutely amazing and are due to take their exams across the next few weeks, and the weeks following the half term break. We are so very proud and wish them all the very best of luck! We know that a lot of hard work and determination has gone into their preparations, it is a very busy few weeks!

The security of our devices and data cannot be under-estimated. With hacking, identity theft, impersonation, fraud and scams all on the increase it is important that everybody has an awareness of cyber security. Internet Matters have a great article with lots of advice and guidance around a range of cyber security topics for parents/carers and their children including phishing, doxxing, cryptojacking and much more, all in a non-techie easy-to-understand format.

Edenthorpe Juniors Football Club – Ability Counts

This academic year we have been supported by Edenthorpe Juniors football club to run a lunchtime club on Tuesday, working with another school within the trust – Northridge. We have been extremely fortunate to have coaching delivered to young people by an FA Level 1 qualified coach and they have supplied us with equipment and skilled coaching. They are now looking to expand their offer to young people who have additional needs to support them to access a football team and coaching. Please see the information below and if your young person would like to access these training sessions please make contact directly with Mark, whose details are included on the bottom of the image below to secure your child’s place knowing you are supporting Bader’s local community.

 

 

Pride Festival and Summer Fayre – Please Help and Support

On Thursday 20^th July, we will be hosting our Pride Festival and Summer Fayre. Families are welcome to attend and this event will be held from 1:30pm, there will be a host of activities including games, activities, food, raffle, refreshments, inflatables, colour / confetti run and much more… further information will be shared nearer the date and the school team and PTA are working to ensure it is an event to remember – if you would like to be involved in the planning and implementation of the event please contact the school office!

We will be sending a sponsorship form home with each young person for their colour / confetti run and there will be obstacles and an assault course to complete. There will be a prize for the young person, who secures the most sponsorship across school, but we do understand that the cost of living crisis is having an implication for families and please understand that it is not a necessity for sponsorship to mean that young people participate as all pupils will, yet support to raise funds for school are important too.

We are also looking for donations for a tombola stand for the event, if you have any donations you are willing to donate to school we would be most grateful, any donations of toiletries, sweets, chocolates or general items would be very welcome and well received to support the fayre and running of the tombola. If these can be sent into school anytime from now until the 14^th July we would really appreciate your support.

We look forward to welcoming families to this event and to celebrate the wonderful year young people have had.
