Safeguarding

The child’s welfare is of paramount importance. Our school will establish and maintain an ethos where pupils feel protected and secure, are encouraged to talk, are listened to as well as feel and are safe.  Children at our school will be able to communicate and talk freely to any member of staff at our school if they are worried or concerned about something.

Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. We recognise that all staff at our school plays a particularly important role as they are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help for children to prevent concerns from escalating. All staff are advised to maintain an attitude of it could happen here where safeguarding is concerned.

We all have a statutory duty to “safeguard and promote the welfare of children”

If you have any concerns about the health and safety of a child at this educational setting or feel that something may be troubling them, you should share this information with an appropriate member of staff straight away.

However, if you think the matter is very serious and may be related to a child protection concern, you must contact a member of the Safeguarding Team immediately. If you are unable to contact them, you can ask the school office staff to find them and ask them to speak  about a confidential and urgent matter.
