Phonics Programme and Reading Scheme
Phonics Programme
At Bader Academy, we teach phonics through the DfE validated ‘All Aboard Phonics’ scheme. All Aboard is a systematic synthetic phonics (SSP) programme that takes its core research from the Letters and Sounds process which has been developed to help identify and intervene with specific areas of reading difficulty. Our young people will access phonics sessions within the curriculum and use decodable books, developed by the All Aboard Phonics team, to help strengthen and develop their phonetic knowledge.
Reading Scheme
At Bader Academy, to benefit our young people most we have chosen to use the PM Reading Scheme. PM benchmark allows us to assess our young people's fluency, comprehension, and inference skills, in a calm and exciting environment. Using this knowledge, class teachers can then match each young person to a book that suits their independent reading level and follow their progression. PM Reading have a range of non-fiction and fiction books that cover a wide variety of subjects and interests; keeping our young people entertained and excited by reading whilst helping them to progress into confident, fluent, and enthusiastic readers!
