Admissions
Bader Academy is a special school with 100 planned places for children aged 5 - 19 years. Our school is for pupils whose primary special educational need has been identified as Communication and Interaction Difficulties, primarily with a diagnosis of Autism, with related Social, Emotional Mental Health needs (SEMH). Some children may also have specific learning difficulties (SPLD) as an additional need, but will not have significant learning difficulties.
For a child to be admitted, the school must be named, by a local authority, in the child’s education health and care plan (EHCP).
Parents wishing for their children to benefit from our provision, should ask their local authority to name our school in their child’s EHCP.
A local authority can also refer a child to the school to be assessed for an EHCP plan, or following a change in the child’s circumstances, for their needs to be assessed or reassessed. Any assessment should be completed within the 20 weeks period as set out in the SEND Code of Practice.
Children being assessed for an EHCP will be dual registered and will return full time, to their mainstream school, if the Local Authority decides not to issue an EHCP.
The school is not responsible for the allocation of school places, as the above process must be followed.
